A randomized blind camera test

Duo vs. 18 Pro.

Two iPhones. The same scene. Can you spot Apple's most advanced camera?

The claim.

The iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable. We think its camera takes photos every bit as good as the iPhone 18 Pro's — the most advanced camera Apple has ever put in an iPhone.

On paper, the 18 Pro should win. Its main camera has a larger sensor and a brand-new variable aperture. The Duo's has neither.

But specs don't decide what a photo looks like. Processing, colour and light do — and that's where the gap may disappear. The only fair way to settle it is to take away the labels and let your eyes decide.

Camera
48MP main. 1×.
Every photo uses each phone's main camera. No zoom, no macro, no ultra-wide.
Settings
Identical.
24MP HEIC, Standard photographic style, auto everything. Same scene, seconds apart.
Files
Nothing to give it away.
Framing matched, same size and quality, all metadata removed.

The 18 Pro's main lens is slightly wider (24mm vs. 26mm), so its photos are cropped to the Duo's framing.

The rules.

Simple. Each round shows the same scene twice. One photo is from the Duo, one is from the 18 Pro.

  1. Pick the 18 Pro.

For each pair, choose the photo you think was taken on the iPhone 18 Pro.

  2. It's truly random.

The order of the pairs and which side each phone is on are shuffled for every round, every time.

  3. Look as closely as you like.

Tap a photo to see it full screen, zoom in, and flip between A and B. There's no time limit.

  4. No going back.

Once you move to the next pair, your answer is locked in.

  5. Answers stay hidden.

The answer key never leaves the server, and you only see your total, so the test stays blind for everyone.

  6. Get a verified result.

Your score is recorded on the server and you get a short link to share. Guessing averages half.

Trust your eyes.
